The Independent Theater Bloggers Association (the “ITBA”) is proud to announce the 2011 recipients of the Third Annual Patrick Lee Theater Blogger Awards. Patrick Lee was one of the ITBA’s founding members. Patrick, who passed away suddenly last June, was an erudite, passionate, and tireless advocate for theater in all its forms. Patrick was also the ITBA’s first awards director, and was a regular contributor to Theatermania and TDF Stages.

“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”? Never heard of it. I suppose I’ll have to add it to my list. I’m surprised you didn’t have more winners for “The Book of Mormon”. I am far from a showtune chauvinist, but I love a good showtune mixed in with the rest of my music. There’s a lot to be said for the “song and dance” form of entertainment. I’ve heard that “they give the song and the dramatic moment a life beyond the lyric”. I know what you mean … but at least Nina Arianda did receive a citation for outstanding performance by an individual performer, I was glad of that (especially because I was one of those who nominated her!)
